We have started to feature some of our customers in a series of Customer Profiles.
The aim is to show a wide variety of people who have a particular story to tell - whether they have achieved their fitness targets, lost weight, overcome adversity or enjoyed success in a sporting event or discipline, each one is different and there will be many more featured in the coming months.

POMPEY live in FA Cup Final!
For the first time since 1939, POMPEY will be taking part in the FA Cup Final against Cardiff City at Wembley.
Harry Redknapp's team are strong favourites to lift the famous trophy but the Championship side will be out to cause a major upset.
Having beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford en route to the Final, Pompey are capable of defeating anyone when they play at their best and it's sure to be a special final at a packed Wembley Stadium in front of around 90,000 spectators.

NEW! SportZONE activity night at Havant Leisure Centre
We are putting on a new event at Havant Leisure Centre called SportZONE, which is aimed at young people aged 11-15.
It will take place in the Main Sports Hall between 6.00pm - 9.00pm and include the following sports activities:
- 5-a-side football
- Basketball
- Table Tennis
- Badminton
Entry will cost just £3.90 per person and there is no need to book - just turn up!
The first event will be held on Saturday 19th July with future SportZONE evenings on the 2nd Saturday of each month.
4th SNAP Disco of 2008 at Havant Leisure Centre!
The fourth SNAP Disco of 2008 will take place at Havant Leisure Centre on Saturday 26th March.
This event is open to all those in secondary school years 7-11 and we expect almost 1,000 young clubbers to attend.
There will be a special performance by Hayze (pictured on the right) who has already featured at two other SNAP Discos in the past.
Don't forget that tickets will not be available after 5.30pm on the day of the event.
The theme for this event is 'Face Paint & Wild Hair' so why not dress up for the occasion! Don't miss out and get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Waterlooville Indoor Triathlon a great success!
The inaugural Waterlooville Indoor Triathlon took place at Waterlooville Leisure Centre on Sunday 13th April between 8.00am - 5.00pm.
A total of 36 competitors ran, cycled and swam to complete the challenge and it is already hoped that other similar events will be held later this year at Waterlooville LC. The triathlon comprised a 5km run, 15km cycle and 400m swim.
Many congratulations to eveyone who took part and also to all the staff who helped to make the event happen with particular thanks to the Organiser, Eloise Quinton.

End of an Era at Horizon
After more than 30 years' service and having played a major role in developing and managing the facilities at both Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres, Daaron Whitear has retired from his role as Managing Director at Horizon Leisure Trust.
Having progressed from Centre Attendant all the way to the top, Daaron has demonstrated what can be achieved with hard work and commitment.
Daaron is pictured here (on the left of group) with Peter Crane (centre) - the Chairman of Horizon Leisure Trust, and Howard Broad (right), who will be taking over as Chief Executive.
I am sure that all staff and customers would like to wish Daaron all the very best in his retirement and thank him for everything he has contributed over the past 32 years.
NEW! Recommend a Friend scheme
We have launched a great, new Recommend a Friend scheme at both our Leisure Centres.
If you are a current Platinum member, simply get a friend to join up as a Platinum member for a 6-month contract and we will give you £25.
There is no limit to the number of friends you can recommend and you will receive £25 for EVERY friend who joins.

NEW! Aqua Aerobics sessions is back at WLC
Aqua Aerobics has returned to Waterlooville Leisure Centre. Val has come back to take the following sessions each week:
- Tuesday 7.00pm - 7.45pm
- Thursday 6.30pm - 7.15pm
- Thursday 7.30pm - 8.15pm
These 45-minute sessions are water-based and you exercise to music using the water as resistance therefore making muscles work harding increasing blood circulation.
Each class costs £3.50 for members, £4.20 for non-members and they are all FREE to Platinum Members.
NEW! DanceFIT sessions at Havant LC
A NEW DanceFIT class is starting at Havant Leisure Centre on Wednesday 2nd April 2008.
This is a fun aerobics class but with added dance moves so you can learn jazz & street styles.
It will be a pay-on-the-door session every Wednesday evening in the Dance Studio from 7.00pm - 8.00pm.
Each class will cost £3.50 for members, £4.00 for non-members and it will be FREE to Platinum Members.
Try something new and come along to this exciting class!

DanceFIT Junior course at WLC
Following the success of our junior sessions in early February, we are now offering children aged 5-13 the chance to enrol on our 6-week DanceFIT Junior course at Waterlooville Leisure Centre.
This is a fun, dance course where you can learn dance moves including Jazz, Hip-Hop & Pop styles and amaze your friends with your new skills and moves!
The course runs from Saturday 1st March - Saturday 5th April (please note it does NOT run on Saturday 8th March) and two times are available depending on the age of your children as follows:
SESSION 1:
9.00am - 10.00am (for children aged 5-8 years)
SESSION 2:
10.15am - 11.15am (for children aged 9-13 years)
Courses cost £25.50 for members and £27.00 for non-members.
Bookings are now being taken and we advise you to enrol as early as possible since we expect demand to be high for this popular course.

Changes to SNAP Disco at Havant LC
We are making some slight changes to the way SNAP Disco operates at Havant Leisure Centre as follows:
- From now on, advance tickets MUST be purchased. Tickets will not be available after 6.00pm on the day of the event.
- From 26th April onwards SNAP Disco will finish at 10.30pm
- Tickets prices are now £5.00 before the day of the event and £6.00 on the day (up until 6.00pm)
The next event will be taking place on Saturday 23rd February.

INDOOR TRIATHLON at Waterlooville LC
Here is your chance to get into shape for the Horizon Waterlooville Indoor Triathlon.
This new event will be taking place at Waterlooville Leisure Centre on Sunday 13th April 2008 between 8.00am - 5.00pm. Each participant will have the chance to choose either a morning or afternoon start time.
This exciting event will run as follows:
- 5k run (3.1 miles) on a treadmill
- 15k bike (9.3 miles) on an exercise bike
- 400m swim (16 lengths) in the main pool
Entry costs £7.00 and entry forms are available from Customer Services at Waterlooville Leisure Centre. The closing date for entries is Sunday 16th March 2008. Commemorative medals will be given to all finishers.
ALL standards of fitness are welcome and you will be seeded with participants of a similar ability.
Event T-shirts are available in a range of sizes from Small to XXL and can be ordered on your entry form. They are priced at just £7.00 each.

Launch Event a great success
The fantastic new Health Clubs at both Havant & Waterlooville Leisure Centres were officially opened as part of a joint event on Saturday 1st December. It was also the 10th Anniversary of Horizon Leisure Trust.
There was FREE entry to both Leisure Centres along with the chance to SAVE UP TO £75 in our Membership Promotion that was launched on the same day.
Two luxury Waitrose hampers were given away in our FREE Prize Draw and the lucky winners were as follows:
- Mrs S Eyles from Bedhampton
- Helen Foxcroft from Waterlooville
The day was a success with a number of people attending the event and lots of fun had by all.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
For Platinum, Gold, Silver, Swim-Card and Bronze Members who use the Sauna & Steam Rooms
It is with great regret that Horizon Leisure Trust has had to withdraw the right of access to existing members of the above schemes to its Sauna and Steam Rooms at Havant and Waterlooville Leisure Centres with immediate effect. Members can continue to use these facilities on a pay as you go basis or by taking out an annual Sauna/Steam Pass - see below.
This is due to a recent ruling by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs that affects leisure trusts across the country. There has been limited notice and no transitional period yet The Trust must comply with the new regulation with immediate effect. The national body for leisure trusts (SpoRTA) is to challenge the ruling.
As the majority of our members are not regular users of the Sauna and Steam Rooms it is hoped that inconvenience will be minimal. However, for those members who do use these facilities The Trust has decided to halve the current charge to £2.00 at Havant LC (£2.10 at Waterlooville LC) per session.
Customers who would like to purchase an annual Sauna & Steam Pass can do so for the cost of £30.00 per year.
The Trust apologises for any inconvenience. Members wishing to complain should write to their local M.P.
REDUCED Power Pilates prices at Havant LC
We are offering a special rate on admission to Power Pilates at Havant Leisure Centre.
Classes are just £3.40 for members and £4.00 for non-members.
The two sessions run on the following times each week in the Dance Studio:

NEW!! Body Blitz class at Havant LC
Body Pump will no longer be taking place at Havant LC on Tuesday evenings.
A new class, BODY BLITZ, has now started on Tuesday evenings at Havant LC from 7.15pm - 8.15pm with admission costing £3.40 for members and £4.00 for non-members.
BODY BLITZ will use the BodyPump barbells along with hand weights and the session aims to build muscular strength & endurance as part of a total body workout.
It takes place in the Small Hall and the instructor is Sarah Wolfe.

The 1st floor Horizon Café is now serving a range of tasty freshly baked cakes at Havant Leisure Centre.
After you have enjoyed a session in the Health Club or Swimming Pool, why not treat yourself?

Horizon Leisure Trust celebrates 10 years!
Horizon Leisure Trust recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and the occasion was marked with a special cake commemorating the period Oct 1997 - Oct 2007.
The Trust was originally established to operate our two multi-purpose sports and leisure centres at Havant and Waterlooville and has the Mission Statement: "To enable and encourage sport and leisure for all."

Gym Tots sessions to start in September
This is a new and exciting class for your child to exercise and explore their gymnastic skills using circuits and apparatus.
The first sessions will be on Monday 10th September at Havant Leisure Centre as follows:

Focus: Shapes

10.30am - 11.15am: 2 years - 3+ years
Focus: Jumping and Running
Theme: Weather
Sessions take place in the Small Hall at Havant Leisure Centre.
Prices for a 45-minute session are £3.10 for members and £3.30 for nom-members. No booking is necessary, just come along and have some fun!

May SNAP Disco is a great success!
The 5th SNAP Disco of 2007 took place at Havant Leisure Centre on Saturday 26th May 2007 - thank you to all who attended.
Shirin (pictured on the right) is one of the most talented and promising young singers in the country and she put on a fantastic show for the hundreds of young clubbers present at Havant LC.

Generous Gift Pays for Life-Saving Equipment
An 89-year-old local woman, who would like to remain anonymous, has very kindly made a donation of £4,000 so that Horizon Leisure Trust is able to pay for two defibrillator machines.
Following the tragic death of Chris Hunt at Waterlooville Leisure Centre in January 2007 following a heart attack, the pensioner was so touched that she wanted to donate the money in an attempt to prevent more tragedies in the future.
We Did It!
On Friday 16th March nearly 50 staff from Havant Leisure Centre (including Charlie the mascot!) took part in a 12-hour run to raise funds for Comic Relief as part of Red Nose Day 2007.
A big thank you to everyone who made a donation and, as a result, we raised a total of £259.06.
A total distance of 71.99 miles was covered (115.86km) in the 12-hour period... this is the same as running from Havant Leisure Centre to the centre of London.
Nearly 100 people guessed the total distance run and Richard Rawlings was the closest, winning £20 in Leisure Vouchers.
Thank you for your support and well done to all staff who took part in the event.

We now have Sky Sports upstairs at Havant Leisure Centre in the Sports Bar.
Come along to Havant LC and watch all the big Premiership matches on our massive 9-foot TV screen and enjoy a drink with our great promotional offers throughout the football season.
Horizon Health Club extended at Havant LC
Following the demise of Spinning at Havant LC, the Health Club has been extended into the 1st floor Exercise Studio and is now available for general use.
There is a series of new equipment on offer in this area including a punchbag, step boxes, mats and a dumbbell tree (1kg, 2kg, 3kg... to 10kg) as well as other machines from elsewhere in the Health Club.
We have also rearranged other equipment to create a larger free weights area downstairs and introducing a third bench along with a power cage (used for squats, lunges, bench press etc.) which has enabled us to cope better during peak periods.
The existing 1st floor area is less cluttered with more space to move around the equipment.
Upright Tanning Systems at both Centres NOW
We can now boast four new upright tanning systems - two at Havant Leisure Centre and a further two at Waterlooville LC.
These units (similar to the one pictured on the right) are much more powerful than our previous machines and have a total of 48 tubes per bed.
With prices starting at just £4 per session, you can now enjoy a golden tan all year round with our new machines.

Curly Watts visits Play Centre
Wednesday 4th January 2006
Kevin Kennedy - alias Curly Watts from Coronation Street, recently made a visit to the Horizone Play Centre at Havant Leisure Centre with his family - much to the delight and surprise of Play Centre Manager, Alex Hodge, and his team of staff.
Kevin and Claire, his wife, were very impressed with the facility and his young daughter, Katy May, who will shortly be celebrating her second birthday, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They then enjoyed a relaxing lunch in the Horizon Café before leaving the centre.
The Play Centre mascot, Charlie, was on hand to meet the soap star and pose for a picture.
Ben Adcock, Group Marketing Manager, was on hand to capture the moment: "Kevin came across as a very friendly, approachable person and we are thrilled at his decision to visit our magnificent Play Centre with his daughter."
It has been a very busy schedule over the festive season for Kevin, who has been making two daily appearances at the Kings Theatre where he has been playing Buttons in the pantomime Cinderella.
